Gen.Buhari wins in Ogun state

APC Presidential candidate, Gen Buhari has been announced the winner of the Presidential election in Ogun state. The state Collating Officer, Duro Oni, while announcing the results at the commission's secretariat in Ogun state this night said of the total 559,613 votes cast, Gen Buhari pulled 308,290 to defeat President Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who pulled 207,950. She stated that the APC won in 13 local governments while PDP won in 7.

Boko Haram members attack polling units in Gombe, two killed Two people have been killed at two polling units in Birin Bolawa and Birin Fulani in the Nafada district of Gombe state this morning by Boko Haram members. According residents of the villages who spoke with AFP, they said suspected members of Boko Haram stormed the polling units, attacked the electorates and killed two people. An election official who spoke with AFP under anonymity, said: “We could hear the gunmen shouting, ‘Didn’t we warn you about staying away from (the) election?’”.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Halliru Aliyu Tambawel announced the development while briefing news men Friday night at INEC headquarters in Dutse, said the postponement was due to the short-fall of sensitive materials including ballot papers and results sheets from the Central Bank of Nigeria. Ogun declared Friday work free for PVC collection

This is to ensure that all eligible voters in the state collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to enable them exercise their civic responsibility in the forthcoming elections. Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barr. The Nigeria Police Force has issued a statement warning members of the public, particularly those going to vote, to beware of some 15 electoral offences on Election Day. In a statement Thursday, Force Public Relations Office, Emmanuel Ojukwu, said anyone who commits any of the offences would be arrested and prosecuted. The offences are listed below. The Students' Union Government through its transport committee has begin zebra crossing paintings on OOU campuses to prevent traffic related accidents. The Chairman with the help of his committee has commenced massive enforcement of traffic law and order, which is targeted at ensuring no accident, casualties is recorded in OOU. Also, public enlightenment has begin on our campuses to orientate students, drivers and transport workers on the need to adhere strictly by the traffic laws.
