Knights of saint Mulumba,Nigeria, has warned that it will not hesitate to dismiss any members found to be a member of any secret cult
The knights gave this warning as a result of the
suspicion from some members of the public,
who saw the body as a group of cultists in the
church.
Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt on
Thursday during its opening of the 36th Annual
Convention, with the theme, “The Church in
Nigerian and its role in Democracy Governance”,
the Supreme Knight, Mr. Anthony Onuh,
explained that it was strange for any member of
the order to be in a secret cult.
Onuh observed that the accusation against the
knights had been repeated and emphasised that
the order had decided to wield the big axe by
dismissing any member of the body linked to any
cult.
He pointed out that the order had been on a
close monitoring of its members following the
allegation.
The supreme knight urged members of the public
to feel free to “officially” report any of its (St
Mulumba) members suspected to belong to a
cult for investigation and sanctioning.
He said, “The order will sack any of our members
found to be member of any secret cult without
hesitation as it is against our principles.
“All members are given opportunity to advance
themselves spiritually with the spirit of God. So,
what is the need of belonging to a secret cult
group? We will dismiss any of our members
found wanting without minding his position. We
do not tolerate cultism.”
Onuh stated that one of the aims of the order
was to redeem the image of Christianity that had
been dented by cultists.
“The order might be misrepresented possibly
because of its official dress code, black suit and
white shirt. It is our responsibility to counteract
the harm done by secret societies to the church
and arrest the influx of enlightened Christian
members to those harmful secret groups that
totally oppose the Catholic faith and morals.
“If we are trying to cleanse the body of Christ of
any form of cultism how can we again be
cultists? Somebody who is a cultist cannot
chase a cult out from church,” he said.
He, however, lamented the level of moral
decadence in the Nigerian society and called on
the church to take up the teaching on
neighbourhood as a means of redirecting the
minds of people to showing mercy.
